Virtual Concert | Premieres on Saturday, June 12 at 6 p.m. HST

Our 55th Anniversary Celebration culminates with Pulama the Palace, a virtual concert premiering on Saturday, June 12 at 6 p.m., featuring some of Hawaii’s top musical artists, including Robert Cazimero, Amy Hanaialii, Kuana Torres Kahele, Natalie Ai Kamauu, Marlene Sai, and the Royal Hawaiian Band performing throughout the Palace and grounds.

Access to the virtual concert is $55.

Online Auction | Closes on June 13 at 6 p.m. HST

Screening of Iolani Palace: Hawaii's Past Today | June 7 at 12 p.m. HST

Tune in for the virtual screening of Iolani Palace: Hawaii’s Past Today. Directed by legendary film director George Tahara, this documentary takes a look at Hawaii’s Past by uncovering the rich history of Iolani Palace, its grounds, and surrounding buildings. See rare historical photos and take a closer look at the Palace’s original furnishings, take a tour of the Palace as it was during its operation as the Capitol building, and learn what was needed to be fixed in each room to restore Iolani Palace to its original grandeur. The film was preserved and digitized with 49 motion picture film reels from the original Friends of Iolani Palace collection.

A discussion about the Palace’s extensive restoration and the Friends of Iolani Palace’s continued preservation efforts will follow the film.

The virtual screening is complimentary for Friends of Iolani Palace members and $10 for non-members.

Screening of Iolani Palace Restoration | June 9 at 12 p.m. HST

Iolani Palace Restoration, directed by legendary film director George Tahara, documents the decade long restoration of Iolani Palace from 1969 to 1979. Learn about the extensive historical research and archeological investigation needed before beginning the restoration project, and see actual footage of the restoration of Iolani Palace and Barracks. The film was preserved and digitized with 49 motion picture film reels from the original Friends of Iolani Palace collection.

A discussion about the Palace’s extensive restoration and the Friends of Iolani Palace’s continued preservation efforts will follow the film.

The virtual screening is complimentary for Friends of Iolani Palace members and $10 for non-members.

ABOUT THE FRIENDS OF IOLANI PALACE

The preservation and restoration of Iolani Palace started as a project by the Junior League of Hawaii in 1966. They conducted extensive historical research, assisted in recovering original furnishings and served over 5,000 volunteer hours. Today, the Friends of Iolani Palace continues the efforts to preserve, protect, and perpetuate this important era of Hawaii’s history.
