Distinctive Women in Hawaiian History

The program included 11 cultural practitioners and community history presenters examining the lives of women in Hawaiian history and the film “Keepers of the Flame: The Legacy of Three Hawaiian Women” by Eddie and Myrna Kamae.

Canned meat/tuna Food Drive: You are encouraged at check-in to drop off donations of canned meat/tuna for the Honolulu families served by the River of Life Mission.

The film examines the contributions of revered Hawaiian scholar and linguist Mary Kawena Pukui [1895-1986], Hula Master `Iolani Luahine [1915-1978], and songwriter and educator Edith Kanakaole [1913-1979].

Admission: free; pre-registration required. Optional Fee: $15 for catered hot lunch, break snacks, & presentation handouts. Catered lunch by Helena's Hawaiian Foods: Kalua pig, poi, lomi salmon, chicken longrice, rice, haupia Hawaiian coconut pudding, and beverages.
