The Guided Tour

Reservations HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This tour provides the complete `Iolani Palace experience. Journey with your docent from the 1882 completion of the `Iolani Palace to the 1893 overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy and learn about the furnishings and artifacts.

Then, visit The Palace Galleries at your own pace to see the crown jewels and other treasures from the Royal Collection.

The tour:

  • Video presentation: "A King's Noble Vision"
  • Self-guided tour of The Palace Galleries
  • Total time for guided tour: approx. 90 minutes

The Friends of `Iolani Palace provides informational brochures in standard Chinese, French, German, Hawaiian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish as well as English.

Tours in Other Languages

A guided tour is conducted in Japanese at 11:30 a.m. With prior arrangement, tours of the Palace can be conducted in Japanese, Hawaiian and German.

Sign Language

Tours with signing can also be arranged for groups of hearing-impaired visitors. Signing for individuals can also be arranged with advance notice.

Guided Tour Hours

Tuesday - Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Tours begin every 15 minutes. Pick up tickets 15 minutes prior to tour.

Accessibility

The Palace is open for tours Tuesday through Saturday.

The Palace is closed on Sunday and Monday.
